Staying in the School
The school is an ideal location for our players to prepare for the tournament. Our Prep Schools Girls teams will have exclusive use of the school. The accommodation removes many of the concerns and problems of staying in a busy city hotel and with excellent facilities provides the ideal place for our teams to bond and prepare for their matches.
Parents are asked not to turn up unannounced at the School. Anyone visiting players at the School are likely to be turned away by security.
Players who did not fly with the squad and are being dropped off at the accommodation will see their drop-off time on their Team page.
Staying in the Hotel (Older teams)
For any teams who are Boys / Girls 14’s or older, will stay in hotel accommodation. At this age, the players often value the luxury and privacy of sharing a room with only one or two teammates instead of a classroom with the whole team. The Coaches are experienced with looking after players in a hotel setting and this environment works well for older players who are encouraged to start practicing their independence (following routines, being on time, packing their bags) with the support of their coaches staying in rooms nearby. Players staying in the hotel will have access to a full cooked and continental breakfast buffet at the hotel and will eat their remaining meals at the school nearby (where the younger players are staying).
Accommodation FAQ
The Boys/Girls 11 to Boys/ Girls 13 teams stay in schools. Why don’t they stay in a hotel?
Staying in school accommodation works very well for the younger players and is excellent preparation for the tournament. Each team will stay together in a classroom so players will need to bring blow-up air mattress, a sleeping bag and pillow. The school accommodation offers many benefits including:
- The price – hotels are extremely expensive during the Gothia Cup especially when booking a large group.
- Players become separated when in different hotel rooms which can increase homesickness with younger players
- The schools provides access to a canteen, training facilities, common room areas which are ideal.
- Meals are served in the canteen at the school which is included in the price
- The school has security whereas a hotel creates a number of supervisory and child protection issues for staff.
- In a hotel, it is hard to supervise issues such as players watching TV in their rooms late at night.
- Corridors are open areas and players can be disturbed at night by other guests.
- Hotels do not provide enough space for all the teams to have team meetings, discussions and talks which are an important part of our education programme and preparation for matches whereas at the school we can use classrooms.
- We create a fantastic ‘Prep Schools Team’ feel to the School and players get to meet and make new friends from other teams and regions.
Can my son/ daughter stay with their friend in a different team?
Each team stays in one classroom and it is not possible for players in different teams to share.

Please ensure you bring a single mattress and not a double!
